Your Consultation in GC Dermatology
Your journey begins with a thorough consultation. We will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and goals, and recommend the most appropriate CO2 treatment pathway for your individual needs. Images of the treatment area are taken at this stage.
Preparation and Numbing
On treatment day you arrive one hour before your appointment. Topical numbing cream is applied and left on for one hour to ensure maximum comfort during the procedure. Safety goggles are fitted for all patients before the laser begins.
The Treatment
The laser is applied to the treatment area. You may hear some buzzing and feel warmth in the skin. CoolPeel patients experience a mild tingling sensation; DOT Therapy patients may feel more noticeable warmth. Treatment typically begins at the forehead and covers the full face. Healing balm and sunscreen are applied immediately after.
Recovery and Results
CoolPeel patients can expect mild pinkness and swelling for 3 to 4 days, with makeup wearable from the next day. DOT Therapy patients should plan for 7 to 10 days of downtime. We strongly recommend a Healite LED session two days after DOT Therapy to support recovery. Results continue to improve as new collagen forms over the weeks following treatment.

How to Prepare and Recover
Following your care instructions carefully supports your recovery and the quality of your results. Full instructions will be provided by the GCDC team at your appointment.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks prior to treatment
- Discontinue retinoids and active skincare ingredients as advised
- Arrive one hour early on treatment day for numbing cream application
- Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and skincare products
- Inform Dr Davidson of all medications, supplements, and relevant health history
- Apply healing balm and sunscreen regularly as directed
- Avoid vigorous activities, saunas, and hot spas during recovery
- Sleep propped up on two pillows to help reduce swelling (DOT Therapy)
- Attend your Healite LED session two days post-treatment (DOT Therapy recommended)
- Stay out of direct sunlight and apply SPF 50+ daily during healing

She completed her medical degrees at the University of Queensland, followed by dermatology training at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Mater Hospital Brisbane, the Queensland Institute of Dermatology, and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Ireland.
Over recent years Dr Davidson has become a recognised key opinion leader in laser dermatology, regularly speaking on contemporary topics in laser and aesthetic medicine across Australia. She was the first practitioner in the country to introduce the DEKA Punto CO2 platform to patients.

Whether your concern is skin cancer surveillance, complex medical dermatology, or advanced laser aesthetics, you are in specialist, fellowship-qualified hands at every visit. The clinic moved to its current home at Mermaid Waters in 2019 and continues to serve patients across South East Queensland.
GCDC is a private billing specialist clinic. A referral from your GP is required to access a Medicare rebate, however patients are welcome to attend without a referral.
